Little Tikes are recalling half a million swings after dozens of children are injured

Baby product manufacturer Little Tikes announced this week that they are recalling as many as 540,00 plastic toddler swings after receiving reports of multiple injuries.

The swing in question is the Little Tikes 2-in-1 Snug’n Secure pink toddler swing and the reason the company is now issuing a voluntary recall is because the plastic can break and crack, which poses a fall hazard, according to an official report published this week on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission’s website.

The seat swing is designed for infants and young children aged nine months to 4 years, and ha a weight limit of up to 50 pounds.

According to the recall documents, customers who have bought this particular swing should check their product for model number 615573. These numbers are according to the manufacturers molded on the back of the equipment’s seat.

As well as this, customers should check the product’s manufacture date code on the back of the seat.

“The molded INNER arrow of the date code stamp points to ‘10’, ‘11’, ‘12’ or ‘13’ … In addition, swings with a date code stamp of ‘9’ on the INNER arrow combined with ‘43’ or higher number stamped on the OUTER are included in this recall,” Little Tikes said.

According to the report, the affected models were on sale from November 2009 and May 2014.
