“He was blue/grey, floppy when I picked him up”

Lucy Mecklenburgh has shared a warning with parents after she found her son Roman “blue and floppy” in his cot.

The mum, who suffered every parent’s worst nightmare earlier this month, said her son is on the mend.

She explained that Roman had a “viral-induced wheeze so a couple of times in the last 2 months”.

The mum said that this causes her son to wake up with a slight cold in the morning.

She said: “He has a little wheeze by lunchtime and by dinner time we are in A&E as he’s struggling to breathe as we can see his chest is sucking in and working really hard.”

“We are usually out by the morning after the nebuliser, oxygen, and steroids and monitoring overnight.”

“This time however he had a little wheeze at lunchtime but no wheeze before bed and he seemed completely fine other than a snotty nose,” the former reality star said.

The mum gave him two puffs of his inhaler just before bed.

“When I heard very quiet cries of distress at around 4 am I went in his room. He was blue/grey, floppy when I picked him up, in and out of consciousness & sick in his mouth,” she revealed.

“I called 999, cleared his mouth, and gave him his inhaler. I wish I could say I stayed calm but I really didn’t,” the mum said.

Lucy’s partner and actor Ryan Thomas said they couldn’t be more grateful to the ICU team and doctors who cared for their boy.

“No words can explain how grateful we are to have our little boy home safe after spending nearly a week in intensive care. As parents, it’s been one of the scariest times of our lives.”

“Thanks to our amazing doctors & nurses we have king Roman back playing, smiling & more importantly eating, I would like to thank the NHS and also Cosmic Charity, who has been unbelievable.”

“You both really are the real-life superheroes,” the dad added.
