Man (30s) dies following serious attack in Co. Sligo

The man was rushed to hospital on Tuesday evening but sadly passed away.

Gardaí in Co. Sligo have launched an investigation after a man in his 30s died.

The man was seriously assaulted in Sligo earlier this week.

He suffered a severe head injury when he was attacked on Tuesday, April 19th.

Emergency services rushed to the scene on Rockwood Parade, Sligo just after 6 pm.

The man was taken to Sligo University Hospital that evening but was then moved to Dublin.

When his condition worsened, doctors agreed it would be best to transfer him to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.

He was in a critical condition when he was transferred.

However, despite doctors’ best efforts, the man sadly passed away in the early hours of this morning.

Gardaí have launched an investigation into the man’s death.

The scene of the attack has been preserved and a forensic examination has taken place.

Anyone who may have witnessed the attack has been asked to come forward.

Gardaí are especially interested in talking to anyone who was in the area on Tuesday evening.

Anyone who was in the vicinity on Tuesday evening between 5 pm and 6.15 pm should come forward.

They are also calling on anyone with camera or dash-cam footage to come forward.
