The new season of Virgin River is the most emotional yet
The latest season of
Virgin River on Netflix has been an emotional rollercoaster for viewers.
Every episode has been full of emotional and heartbreaking scenes, but it was the wildfire episode that really hit home for many viewers.
Not only was it devastating to see so many homes destroyed and lives put at risk, but among the turmoil, Mel was suffering her own heartache.
Once the fire broke out, the nurse rushed to the clinic to help with the victims, despite having stepped away from her role as a nurse practitioner when she discovered she was pregnant.
Mel had already faced so many fertility struggles before, as well as suffering a stillbirth. Being pregnant again was a miracle for her, but she sadly suffered a miscarriage during the wildfire.
Mel conducted a scan when she was alone in the clinic and discovered that her baby's heartbeat had stopped.
It's the news every mum-to-be can't even think about, but it became a reality for Mel in the middle of one of the most hectic days Virgin River ever experienced.
Despite facing such heartache, the nurse continued to work and save those affected by the wildfire.

Speaking about the storyline, actress Alexandra Breckenridge told Tudum:
"I felt like it was an important story to tell. Not everyone gets their miracle baby. And so, talking to a friend of mine who had dealt with fertility issues, it seemed as though we were going to be talking about it in an honest way that would be appreciated by women who have experienced that. It was very hard for me, though.
She added: "There was a lot of crying. It’s a really sad storyline, but in the end, I think Mel comes out of it on the other side in a better way."
The way Mel continued to help others after losing her baby shows just how strong a woman can be. She didn't put herself first but chose to care for others who needed her support.
It may have been a heartbreaking scene to watch, but it's a reality so many women have faced, and the
Virgin River team captured it so sensitively.
