"Over the north, northwest and parts of the west rain will turn to sleet and snow over higher ground. Rain will clear to scattered showers by evening. Afternoon temperatures will be 2 to 4 degrees in the north and parts of the west but elsewhere afternoon temperatures will be around 5 to 8 degrees. Strong and gusty southwest winds will veer west to northwest and moderate by evening." Meanwhile, "Saturday night will be cold with scattered showers becoming confined to the west and north and mostly dry elsewhere. Some showers will be wintry. Lowest temperatures will fall to between -1 to +3 degrees with frost and icy stretches." And as for Paddy's Day itself: "Sunday, St Patrick's day is likely to be a bright and cold day with sunny spells and scattered showers, some of the showers could be wintry.
