Met Éireann predicts that the weather is going to be fairly unsettled this week

It’s not looking good.

While there will be some dry patches, the weather is going to be fairly unsettled this week with rain and wind taking over the country.

The weather forecaster said that while this morning will be warm and bright, we may experience thunder as the day goes on.

“Many areas dry and bright at first this morning, but all parts will become wet and windy for a time today as rain in the southwest gradually extends northeastwards over the country.

“Brighter intervals and showers will follow from the southwest later, but some of those showers will be heavy, with a risk of thunder. Top temperatures 16 to 19 degrees. Fresh to strong and gusty southeast winds will veer southerly and moderate with the clearance.”

The rest of the week will be mixed, but we’re in for a lot of rain.

“Largely dry on Tuesday night with just a few residual patches of light rain and drizzle, variable cloud and clear spells. Winds generally light west or northwest. Minimum temperatures will range 10 to 13 degrees.

“Wednesday will be a largely dry but rather cloudy day through much of midlands, north and east, through some bright or sunny intervals will also occur. Generally dull and cloudy conditions will prevail in western and southwestern counties with patchy rain and drizzle becoming more persistent as the day goes on.

“Light or moderate southwest breezes will back southerly towards evening. Top temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees. Rain will turn heavy in Atlantic coastal counties on Wednesday evening, before spreading countrywide on Wednesday night.”
