Met Éireann say that persistent rain will cover the country today

It's not looking too good.

We had one wonderful day (hour) of snow on Sunday and the whole country couldn't quite believe it as it came from absolutely nowhere. However, since then it's been a bit all over the place, with the snow turning to slush and rain washing over the country. Well, today isn't going to be much different, with heavy rain washing down over the whole country. Met Éireann said: "Mostly cloudy this morning with showery rain, heavy in places, especially in Ulster. Some dry intervals in the east and southeast. Bright spells and scattered showers following from the west this afternoon and evening, but rain continuing in Ulster and north Leinster.
