Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery announces her engagement

The couple have been dating since 2019.

Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery has gotten engaged to her partner Jasper Waller-Bridge.

The actress, who is best know for her role as Lady Mary Crawley in the hit show, announced the news on Thursday in The Times.

The announcement read:

“The engagement is announced between Jasper, son of Michael Waller-Bridge of King’s Lynn, Norfolk, and Teresa Waller-Bridge of Battersea, London, and Michelle Dockery, younger daughter of Michael and Lorraine Dockery of Gidea Park, Essex.”

Michelle has been in a relationship with Jasper, who is the brother of Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge, since meeting him through friends in 2019. The pair made their debut as a couple at the Rome Film Festival.

He is a currently works as a TV and film producer and previously worked with a leading talent agency, managing former One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson.

The engagement comes six years after the actress lost her previous fiancé John Dineen to a rare form of cancer at the age of 35.

Two years after he sadly passed away, she told The Guardian:

“I don’t have the vocabulary to describe what it felt like.

“And what it still feels like. It is… I’ve never been more committed to anything in my life than to him.

“So at the time everything just shut down. Work, everything. Work didn’t matter. You suddenly become an oncological expert. This stuff becomes your world, and that of course was my priority.”

She described him as “my friend, my king, my hero, my everything”.

Michelle is set to star in the upcoming Downton Abbey movie, Downtown Abbey: A New Era, which is set for release in March.
