Muireann O’Connell has revealed trolls targeted her shortly after her father’s death.

The presenter was devastated when her father died but then had to deal with online abuse as she grieved the loss of her beloved dad.

The Ireland AM host spoke out about the hurt she faced shortly after losing her dad.

She said people need to remember that they don’t know what others are going through.

Speaking on her podcast And Another Thing, Muireann said she was quite shocked by the level of judgment.

“I swear to god, the judgment of people when you’re trying to find a bit of fun around when someone’s died. You got to find the fun.”

“You don’t know what’s going on at home. If they’re just having a laugh, let him because they’re probably crying themselves to sleep every night.”

“I remember like three messages vividly in my head about how I was a disgrace and I didn’t know how to grieve properly and that my father would be ashamed of me.”

Muireann said all she was doing was trying to find light in the darkest situation, but some people just couldn’t stop themselves from hassling her.

They were doing something her father would’ve loved, but many failed to see the good in the touching moment.

Muireann sadly lost her father to cancer in 2021.
