Mum criticises commuters for not giving up seats for her son

HerFamily

A mum has slated commuters for not giving her son a seat on the train.

She posted a video, which has now gone viral, of her son sitting in the aisle of a train.

It is believed her son is aged between 8 and 12.

Alongside the video, the mum called out commuters for ignoring her ‘baby’.

She wrote, “All these people watching my baby sit on the floor in the priority seats area.”

The woman was hit with major backlash after posting the video. Many pointed out the fact that her son is not a priority passenger, therefore, should not expect people to give him a seat.

Many stressed that if anyone should be given someone else’s seat it should be a pregnant person, an elderly person, or people with disabilities.

One wrote, “It is actually common courtesy and good manners for a child to give up their seat for an older person, well it was when I was a child.”

Another said that priority seats are not for children and that the mum shouldn’t have such high expectations.

“Kids do not take priority seats. Disabled people, pregnant women, the elderly, or babies in arms.”

However, many parents empathised with the mum because traveling with children can be stressful.

One said they would be annoyed if they bought a ticket and were left with nowhere to sit.

Another said, “They shouldn’t sell people tickets if there aren’t enough seats.”

One also suggested that the mum should travel at less busy times.

The mum made the video private following the backlash.

Do you think the mum was being dramatic or does she have a point?
