Mum says that daughter’s friend is trying to steal things from her home

A frustrated mum took to Reddit to vent her annoyance about a situation regarding her daughter's friend. The fed up mum says she is sick and tired at the young girl trying to steal from their home when she comes over for a play date. The woman wrote in the online forum describing how her daughter's friend often comes over as her parents have no one else to watch her while they work. She went on to explain that she doesn't mind watching the eight year old. What she does have a problem with is that the child often tries to take things from her home when she is leaving.

"She sorta 'shops' in our house. Once it was a button box that belonged to my great aunt. She said she really liked it and asked, 'Do you use this??' I said it's a decoration and usually has buttons on it but my toddler dumped them. She said, 'I would play with it all the time. Do you need it?' I said it was my aunt's and I'm not giving it away."

The mum went on to describe another situation where the eight year old started demanding the woman's daughter give her a rock that she got as a souvenir.

"She kept going on and on, 'I love rocks. I don't have one like that.' My kid said no, then asked Sierra to come in her room to play. Sierra said 'I'll only play with you [if] you give me that rock.'"

She also said that she often asks to take home toys belonging to her daughter despite being told no several time. The mum is at her wits end and doesn't know how she's going to stop her from trying to take things from their home. Others on Reddit chimed in on how the little girl's behavior was just straight up not ok.

"She's old enough to be told to cut it out. I've had to do this with a kid who wanted my daughter's old clothes that she wouldn't even be able to wear." "I would speak to her mom and if next time she still did it I would sternly tell her it’s rude to ask for other people’s belongings." "I think you should talk to mom because either the mom doesn’t know about this behavior she is pulling at other people’s homes and once mom is aware she can help correct the behavior ... OR mom is aware of the behavior already and doesn’t see it as a problem and/or won’t help in correcting the behavior. And then you would know this will probably always be a problem."
