She is furious, and rightly so!

New parents, Sarah Fa’avale and husband Tua were on the hunt for a new car seat for their baby in a shopping centre in New Zealand.

They had their 3-month-old daughter, Tahani with them who needed her nappy changed.

So naturally, the couple decided Tua would take her to the mall’s parent room to change her.

Sarah took to Facebook to share what happened next and to express her anger.

She wrote:

“When he went to enter however, a lady started yelling at him saying: ‘Um, excuse me!!! you can’t go in there, there’s mums in there!'”

“We are in 2018!!! I am absolutely gobsmacked that in this day and age a new father can’t change his own daughter’s nappy in a parents room”

This was the first time Tua tried to use a parents’ room. His wife told the New Zealand Herald that he was “taken aback” by what had happened.

Following the incident, the new mum got in touch with the shopping centre, Queensgate, to file a complaint. She acknowledged that they got back to her very quickly and were “very apologetic”.

Staff at Queensgate don’t know who it was that told Tua that he couldn’t use the facility.

But, they did say that they are planning to put up new signs to make it clear to customers that any parent or guardian can use the room no matter what gender they are.
