A massive good luck to all involved.

Almost 59,000 students in Ireland are set to receive their Leaving Certificate results this morning.

This year’s results are being released one day earlier than usual in order to speed up the college application appeals process.

As a result, students who applied for third level CAO courses will receive their first offers on Thursday, August 15.

Leaving Cert results will be available from schools from 9am today and accessible online from 10am.

58,787 students and adult learners sat the State Examination this year, a three percent increase on 2018.

Minister for Education Joe McHugh has congratulated every student receiving results today, saying that they should be “very proud.”

“There are many paths open to you, with a wide range of opportunities available in higher education, further education, post Leaving Certificate courses and apprenticeship and traineeship routes,” he said.

“There are also an increasing number of options and opportunities for students regionally. More lead-in courses, more choice at institutes of technology and colleges planning for technological university status.”

Minister McHugh also thanked the teachers, principals, and other education staff who supported their students through the Leaving Cert cycle – as well as parents who “felt that they themselves were sitting the exams.”

He said:

“The dedication and professionalism shown by all in preparing students and then undertaking key roles in the operation of the state examinations is a great tribute to the quality of the Irish education system and the overriding commitment to have students’ interests at the heart of the system.”

Five students received eight H1s in this year’s Leaving Cert, with 235 students achieving six or more H1s.

7,639 students will receive at least one H1 in their results today.
