Irish schoolgirl who died “unexpectedly” at the weekend “much loved” by community

Heartbreaking.

Tributes are rolling in for a "much loved" schoolgirl who tragically and suddenly passed away over the weekend. Kilkenny native Lucy Doyle died "unexpectedly" on Sunday and tributes to the student have been pouring in since. Lucy was in sixth year at Presentation Secondary School, Kilkenny and was said to be a "much loved" pupil, with the school leading the way. They wrote: "It is with great sadness that we have learnt of the death of our much loved 6th year student, Lucy Doyle. "Lucy's warm smile and charisma will be sorely missed by all in our school community. "Our heartfelt sympathies are with the Doyle family and Lucy's friends and teachers at this very difficult time. "May her gentle soul Rest in Peace. "Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam." The parent of another child at the school said: "I’m so sorry that you have had such a devastating loss. Lucy truly was a beautiful girl. "You are all in my thoughts and prayers. I hope you can find the strength to guide you through. Rest in peace Lucy." Lucy's family has since confirmed that the funeral is set to take place on Friday at St. John's Church. The RIP.ie post says: "Lucy, cherished youngest daughter of Joe and Johanne and darling sister of James, Emma, Shane, Becky and Vicky, sadly missed by her heartbroken family, Kelly and Pegzey, godmother Mary, brothers-in-law Paul and Sean, sister-in-law Becca, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, extended family, neighbours, her schoolmates and teachers at the Presentation Secondary School and a wide circle of friends. "May Lucy Rest in Peace. "Reposing at her home on Thursday (6th Jan) from 2pm concluding with Rosary and Vigil Prayers at 6.30pm. House private at all other times please. Requiem Mass for Lucy will be celebrated on Friday at 10.30am in St. John's Church with Funeral afterwards to St. Kieran's Cemetery."
