Police in Spain arrested an Irish tourist, also aged in his 30s, on suspicion of murder. He was taken to the hospital with self-inflicted wounds before being moved to a prison in Spain.
Armed guards escorted him to the hospital before he was taken into police custody, The Independent reports.
He was refused bail after appearing before a Spanish court. He will remain in prison in Spain as the investigation continues.
Ms. Ward arrived in Salou just two days before her untimely death. It is believed she was on holiday with the murder suspect.
The pair were reportedly sharing a room at the hotel.
