Saoirse Ruane was honoured in the most beautiful way
The family of Saoirse Ruane has praised the Late Late Toy Show team for honouring their daughter in the most beautiful way.
During Friday night’s show, the team remembered Saoirse by decorating a Christmas tree with ‘Saoirse’s star’.
The touching tribute was revealed during a performance of For Good from Wicked.
The subtle but moving tribute left many viewers in tears, but it meant the world to Saoirse’s family.

Her mum wrote on social media, “A huge thank you to the team at [the Late Late Show and RTÉ], especially Patrick Kielty for this beautiful yet gentle nod in remembering our girl.”
She added, “It took our breath away.”
Saoirse’s mum wrote her own meaningful message to her daughter ahead of this year’s Toy Show.
“My wish for you tonight is that you get to watch it on a big screen with all the other little angels in heaven and Slush by your side,’ she continued, referencing Saoírse’s beloved stuffed toy companion.
“I hope you get lots of hot chocolate, popcorn and sweets galore. I’ll be thinking of you my precious, precious girl.”
Saoirse Ruane became a national treasure after appearing on the Toy Show in 2020.
She sadly died from cancer at the age of 12 this year.
