Schoolkids were having a tea party when car crashed into London primary school

Two children have died following the primary school tragedy on Thursday, July 6th.

Primary school children were enjoying a tea party before a Land Rover crashed into the Wimbledon-based primary school. Students at the Study Preparatory School were celebrating the end of the school term moments before the tragic incident.

Police arrested the driver of the car, a woman aged in her 40s, at the scene.

She reportedly suffered a medical episode before crashing into the primary school.

Selena Lau and Nuria Sajjad, both aged 8, died following the harrowing incident. Both of their families have penned heartbreaking tributes in the days following the accident.

Selena’s family said: “Selena was an intelligent and cheeky girl adored and loved by everyone. The family wishes their privacy to be respected at this sad time.”

Nuria’s family also paid tribute following her untimely passing.

“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Nuria on Sunday, 9 July 2023.

“Nuria was the light of our lives. She embodied joy, kindness, and generosity and she was loved by all around her.

“We would like to thank the efforts of the emergency services, all the extraordinary staff at St George’s Hospital, the parents of Nuria’s class fellows and staff of the Study Prep for all they have done to ease Nuria’s journey.

Detectives from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are leading the investigation.

They confirmed that their inquiries are ongoing.
