No charges to be brought over tragic fire that killed ten family members

 The tragic fire occurred three years ago.

No criminal charges will be brought in the case of the Carrickmines fire that claimed the lives of ten family members including a pregnant mother and a six-month-old baby.

It was determined that all of the victims died of carbon monoxide poisoning.

The Director of Public Prosecutions made her decision that no charges were to be brought in regard to the 2015 blaze following the submission of a case file by An Garda Siochana.

It is said that no family members of the victims were present at Dublin Coroner’s Court as Detective Inspector Martin Creighton informed the coroner of the DPP’s decision.

The full inquest into the deaths will be heard before a jury over a two week period in early 2019.

The victims, Thomas Connors, 27, Sylvia, 30, Jim, 5, Christy, 3, and six-month-old Mary, Willy Lynch, 25, pregnant Tara Gilbert, 27, Jodie, 9, Kelsey,4 and Jimmy Lynch, 39, were residents of the Glenamuck Halting site in Carrickmines, Dublin 24.

According to Dublin Live, the coroner has adjourned the inquest and has issued a provisional start date for the full inquest to begin next year January 14.
