A true professional.

Getting an injection can be scary for anyone, not to mention a young child. Some use lollipops or stickers to ensure they get the job done but we especially like the approach taken by one nurse.

She’s gone viral in the past week thanks to a video of her attending to one young patient.

Tiffany Marshall from Louisiana went along for her grandson’s checkup late last month. The little boy was clearly upset about having to get shots but the nurse made a game of the whole thing and soon calmed him right down.

First, to get a pin prick of his blood, she told the little boy he was going to paint circles for her.

He allowed her to prick his finger and he “painted’ a piece of card with his blood.

“I didn’t cry!” he called out, delighted with the game.

Then, to give him his injection, she asked him to wrap his arms tightly around her.

He did, allowing her to administer three shots. The boy wriggled and yelped a bit (as any of us would) but didn’t shed a tear and soon enough it was all over.

The boy then danced an adorable dance as he collected the five dollars he’d been promised for getting his shots.

The video has been shared over 363,000 times and viewed 22 million times since it was posted on 29 December and serves as a great reminder of just how brilliant nurses are.
