The Palace has responded to reports Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are planning a move to Canada.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have recently returned from a six-week break in Canada, where they were spending “private family time” with their young son Archie.

And reports emerged this week claiming that the royal couple could be set to move to Canada for a “significant part” of 2020.

The Sussexes were said to be planning on discussing their options with other royals in the coming days, with sources close to the couple claiming the pair may run their offices from Canada full time.

However, a spokesperson for the Palace told MailOnline that the reports were just “speculation” as they dismissed the claims.

It comes as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to have told friends they wanted to spend more time in Canada in 2020.

The Sun report the pair will discuss the idea with senior royals this week, with both Prince Charles and the Queen expected to be included. And sources close to the couple emphasised that the talks are preliminary at this point.

“It is true that Harry and Meghan will spend a fair amount of time in Canada over the next couple of months and possibly going forward too,” a source told the publication. “Right now they are starting talks with their family about their plans for the future. Those conversations are at a very early stage.”

“There is a very careful and serious process to go through which they are going to respect. But it is clear they are on a different and unique path, and they are very much thinking about what the future looks like for them,” the insider continued.

“That could include being based in Canada or the possibility of walking away from their HRH titles, although hopefully it will not come to that.

“It’s been a very tough year — they’re newlyweds and they have a young baby — so they’re looking at what their life looks like in the future. Everything is on the table.”
