Parents are being warned to be on the look out for this Whatapps scam

Have you been sent this message over WhatsApp?

A lot of Irish people have been caught out by a scam text message being sent over the popular messaging app WhatsApp.

I’ve seen many people in my home feed warn others to be wary of this message pretending to give families free passes to Tayto Park.

The message looks legit and even comes with a website that has the Tayto name in its address.

With the summer holidays upon us, an offer like this will seem very tempting to parents, but unfortunately it’s fake.

Tayto Park themselves have released a statement on their Facebook page to say that they have no involvement with the message and that anyone who receives it should avoid clicking on it or giving away any of their personal information.

GDPR has become a lot stricter in Ireland over the last few weeks but that still doesn’t mean that scammers can’t find ways around this.

Once you have entered your details into a fake website it can be used for all sorts of fraudulent reasons including identity theft and the hacking of your bank account.

Several companies have warned Irish users of WhatsApp not to open text messages about their company before checking to make sure that it’s a genuine offer.

Even on social media, when it comes to bargains the old adage still applies…if it seems to good to be true, it probably is.
