Parents in Ireland are being warned over a number of products included in a recall notice published today, July 5.

Officials at the Competitions and Consumer Protection Commission have warned over choking and electric shock hazards with both recalled products.

It was discovered that the items have been sold to customers in Ireland, and so they are being urged to bin the products if they have them at home.

Here’s what you need to know:

Kids’ night light

Recalled, teddy

A safety issue was identified with the ‘Modern Resin Mouse Table Lamp Desk Light Study Kids’ Room Indoor Decorative LED Night Lights Home Lamp’ which is sold on the AliExpress Platform.

The product presents a risk of electric shock.

Explaining the issue, the CCPC notice read: “The luminaire had metal parts insulated from live parts only by basic insulation. The insulation can break down over time, causing accessible metal parts.”

The AliExpress Item Number is 400058542463, but the brand, batch, model and barcode are unknown.

The product was sold online through the AliExpress platform.

“Given the online availability of this product, it may have been sold to customers in the Republic of Ireland,” officials warn.

If you purchased one of these products, you should discontinue use immediately and discard of the product. If you wish to contact AliExpress to see if there are any refunds available to you, log on via your user account on the AliExpress platform.

Pikachu soft toy

recalled, night light

A safety issue has also been identified with a Pikachu Soft Toy sold on the Joom platform.

The risk of choking was reported to the CCPC due to the inner stuffing material of the soft toy – it is accessible which may lead to a child choking on it.

The brand, model number, batch number and the bar code are unknown.

There are approximately 8 affected products in the Republic of Ireland.

If you purchased one of these products, you should discontinue use immediately and discard of the product.

Buyers from the Joom platform will be alerted by the online platform in relation to this issue.

Once again, if you wish to contact Joom to see if there are any remedies available to you, this can be done via your user account on the Joom platform.
