The young girl was seriously injured in the Parnell Square attack

The family of a five-year-old girl who was seriously injured in the Parnell Square attack last November has said she is “doing well” in a positive update.

In a statement posted to the GoFundMe page set up for the injured child, the family stated that their “little warrior” has “begun the rehabilitation phase”.

“Hello everyone, our little warrior is doing well. She has been through quite a lot, but that hasn’t stopped her from smiling and being curious,” the statement reads.

“These past weeks have shown us even more so how resilient she is but also put our own strength into check as we have matched her determination.

“We have only begun the rehabilitation phase, and the questions regarding her future and ours are present. Despite all the mights and maybes, we have to believe in her, mainly because she does.”

In a follow-up statement on Thursday, they added:

“Just to clarify, in case anyone has read the news, our little girl is still in hospital and has no set date of discharge.

“Thank you for all the love sent our way.”

The public has been donating to a GoFundMe to support the victim

At the beginning of this year, the young girl’s family confirmed she had entered the third stage of her recovery.

The family said that this would be the longest stage of her recovery as she needs to relearn everything due to the injuries she suffered.

Later in January, however, the family revealed that the child that the child had suffered a “setback” and was back in ICU.

In another update, her family said she was “back on the ward and almost over this bump in the road”.

The child’s GoFundMe page is still open for donations. Over €88,000 has been raised for her so far.

We’re keeping the young girl in our thoughts during her recovery.
