Philip Schofield has taken to Instagram this morning to announce that he is gay.
In a lengthy statement shared to his Instagram story the This Morning TV host wrote:
“With the strength and support of my wife and daughters, I have been coming to terms with the fact that I am gay.”
Continuing he wrote:
“This is something that has caused many heart-breaking conversations at home. I have been married to Steph for nearly 27 years and we have two beautiful grown-up daughters, Molly and Ruby.
“Today, quite rightly, being gay is a reason to celebrate and be proud. Yes, I am feeling pain and confusion, but that only comes from the hurt I am causing to my family.”
Continuing to thank his wife and his daughters for their love and support, Philip also took time to thank his co-host, Holly Willoughby who has taken time to hug him while he “sobbed on her shoulder”.
Philip has been married to Stephanie Lowe for 27 years and the pair have two daughters Molly (27) and Ruby (24).
