Pippa O’Connor’s first pregnancy made her seriously worry about the future

Fair play.

“I knew deep down that was the reason…”

Pippa O’Connor might be one of Ireland’s most successful bloggers and business women. From her 320,000 followers to her jeans brand POCO by Pippa, the 34-year-old is killing it but in a recent interview, she’s revealed that it hasn’t always been that way.

Starting her career off as a model, Pippa noticed a serious change when she fell pregnant with her first child, Louis. Brands began to drop her and jobs became abysmal leading Pippa to worry about what was next.

“I felt like I was being pushed out [of modelling]. One or two things happened. I was signed up to do a big job – it would have been the biggest thing I would have done, to be the face of a makeup brand.

“I was probably only early on in my pregnancy and I said, ‘Just so you know, I am pregnant. It won’t interfere with my job’.

“Long story short, they dropped me. They said, ‘we’re going in a different direction’. I know it was because I said I was pregnant and that wasn’t suitable for the brand or whatever stupid reason they thought, which is mind-blowing. Pippa revealed on the Good Glow podcast with Georgie Crawford.

Continuing, she discussed her fears for the future having realised that the modelling world was closing its doors.

“I was made feel scared that I’d hit a brick wall at 28 now that I’d become a mum and I thought, ‘What am I going to do?’

“I’d had Ollie. I was getting no work, therefore no money. Things weren’t great then, they were scary. I was thinking, ‘When am I going to work again and get an income?’

“I hated that feeling of not knowing what was next. I felt I had no control.”

The mum-of-two soon realised that if she’s to pave the way she has to do it herself and so, turned to blogging – gaining serious attraction for her style and eye to detail, it then lead Pippa to launch her clothing brand, POCO by Pippa.

The brand which she created alongside her husband, Brian Ormond, now has over 107,000 fans with people swearing by the jeans and their snug fit.

The star also just revamped her Kildare home, giving the whole house a facelift, Pippa has revealed that the six-month process was exhausting but she enjoyed doing it up “little by little.”
