Police are searching for the mother of a newborn baby who was found in an east London park.

The infant was found wrapped in a white blanket in a park in Newham and was taken to a nearby hospital.

The newborn boy is currently being looked after by staff in the hospital. They are calling him ‘Harry.’

‘Harry’ was found early yesterday morning and London police are conducting a search for his mother.

The baby was spotted by a passer-by.

Appealing to newborn’s mother, chief inspector Jim Foley said:

“We are growing increasingly concerned for your welfare and I would urge you to make contact with us or your local hospital or GP surgery. It is really important that we know you are safe.”

Police are concerned that ‘Harry’s’ mother may need medical attention.

They also urged anyone with information on the child of his unknown mother to come forward.
