Prince Harry announces second job in two days at US think tank

It's his second new job in two days.

Prince Harry has announced that he is part of a new commission at US think tank the Aspen Institute, looking into the issues of misinformation and fake news in society.

The Duke of Sussex has joined the Commission on Information Disorder as a celebrity commissioner. Their aim is to "examine the nation's public information crisis" and recommend how government, the private sector and society should should respond to the "modern-day crisis of faith in key institutions."

In a statement addressing his new role, Prince Harry said: "The experience of today's digital world has us inundated with an avalanche of misinformation, affecting our ability as individuals as well as societies to think clearly and truly understand the world we live in.

"It's my belief that this is a humanitarian issue and as such, it demands a multi-stakeholder response from advocacy voices, members of the media, academic researchers, and both government and civil society leaders. I'm eager to join this new Aspen commission and look forward to working on a solution-oriented approach to the information disorder crisis."

It seems that the Duke is keen to keep himself busy in the US, now that he has stepped away from all royal duties, as this is the second new job he has announced in as many days. Harry revealed on Tuesday that he has been appointed as chief impact officer at BetterUp, a Silicon Valley start-up that focuses on mental health services.

The start-up has been described as 'life coaching Tinder' and provides mobile-based professional coaching, counselling and mentorship. Clearly mental health is an important topic for Prince Harry, having spoken openly about the impact that the press had on his mental health in the interview that he and his wife Meghan Markle had with Oprah.

With his new role at the Aspen Institute focusing on misinformation and the media, it seems that Prince Harry is determined to focus on roles that are close to his heart. The Sussexes also signed deals with Netflix and Spotify last year, and with their second child on the way, it looks like 2021 is not going to be a quiet one for them.
