Prince William talks fatherhood (and it’s pretty adorable!)

Becoming a parent has a profound effect on most of us. All of a sudden you go from being (for the most part) only responsible for yourself and your own actions to being left in charge of a teeny tiny person’s life and wellbeing.

It’s humbling stuff.

And, as it turns out, feels pretty much the same to all of us, no matter who we are or what our circumstances.

That is what Prince William, who, as we all know, is a dad to two of the most adorable tots on the planet, recently explained in an interview with TV’s Ant and Dec.

The responsibility of caring for Prince George and Princess Charlotte has, according to himself, caused the heir to the British throne to become a changed man.

“I’m a lot more emotional than I used to be, weirdly,” the 33-year-old tells the popular TV presenters in a preview of When Ant and Dec Met the Prince: 40 Years of the Prince’s Trust, an upcoming film about the Prince’s Trust, a charity set up by Prince Charles.

“I never used to get too wound up or worried about things,” he continues. “But now the smallest little things, you well up a little more, you get affected by the sort of things that happen around the world or whatever a lot more, I think, as a father.”

While fatherhood has understandably caused Wills to worry more, it’s also taught him to never take for granted the time he gets to spend with his kids or witnessing their major milestones: “[It’s] just because you realize how precious life is and it puts it all in perspective,” the young royal, who lost his own mother when he was still very young, explains. “The idea of not being around to see your children grow up and stuff like that.”
