Town and Country magazine have confirmed that a gentleman's tie should only extend to their belt mark.
They say that the issue could be that Mr Trump has a special way of tying his ties which results in him having to use scotch tape to keep it in place

Some insiders say his tie length is in fact because he wears Brioni ties which are longer than standard ties.
Most ties are 58 inches whereas Brioni ties are 59. And we all know that every inch counts, right?
But one source believes the issue is more...er, physical and that the worst tie mistake a heavier man can make is a tie that is too short because it exaggerates (and exposes) the thickness of his belly.
So that's his secret....size clearly matters to Donald, a lot.
