This is actually so sweet.
It seems like the royal family aren't much different from us when it comes to pets.
William and Kate's spaniel, Lupo, has been in the family for years now - seven years, to be exact - and is even often involved in the family photoshoots which is very, very cute.
However, Kate opened up about why she got Lupo in the first place, and we're sure a lot of people can relate to it.
Natalie Bressani was one of the attendees at the Duke and Duchess' RAF Christmas party and said that she had a conversation with Kate about her spaniel.
Kate said that when William was away in the Falkland Islands for duty, she would feel lonely at home, so they got Lupo to help her cope.
Heart. Breaking.
During a speech at the RAF party, Kate said: "As someone whose husband has served, I know how hard it feels when a loved one leaves home to do the job they’ve trained for.
When William served in the Falklands or went on search and rescue, I remember how it felt. But I can’t imagine how it feels when your loved ones are away on active service over Christmas or at those special family moments."
Kate and William got Lupo in 2012 after he was born into a litter by Kate's family dog, owned by her mother and father.
