He explained that he'd become fed up with rowdy kids pulling at tablecloths and spilling drinks.
The breaking point, he said, came when some children caused serious damage in the restaurant and broke an antique photo stand.
Mr Markl insists that the ban is not aimed at children but instead at parents "who cannot control their children."
They "acknowledge it with a smile, keep on eating, and don't care at all," he said.
He hopes that by making Oma's Küche a child-free zone after 5pm, he'll create an "oasis of peace" in his establishment.
