The romance! This man created a proposal like no other in Cork at the weekend

This is just too cute!

Love is in the air.

And when you’re in love, you’d do anything to prove to your significant better half that they’re truly the best. And one man from Lavitts Quay in Cork is a fine example of this, as he went above and beyond to prove to his now fiancée that she is the one for him.

Enlisting the help of his family, Ian Johnston proposed to his girfriend of 11 years, Niamh Murray in a truly unique way. Ian created a banner saying “NIAMH WILL YOU MARRY ME” and gathered his family to stand holding the sign from the ledge on St Anne’s church in Shandon.

Then when the timing was just right, Ian got his girlfriend Niamh to look out their apartment window to what he told her was a “protest” happening at Shandon. Handing her a pair of binoculars, as Niamh looked through them towards the sign, Ian dropped down to one knee and asked the all important question, “will you marry me?”, thankfully Niamh said yes and we are beyond thrilled for the pair. TOO CUTE.

One of the most iconic landmarks in the city, Shandon Bells too shared images from the day, congratulating the pair.

Ian and Niamh first met on St Patrick’s Hill, Cork, while attending school and now they’re ready to embark on the next chapter of their lives together.

We wish them every happiness for the future.
