RTÉ confirmed on Wednesday that Ryan Tubridy's contract with the broadcaster has "come to an end" following controversy over his wages.
Revealing the news in a statement, the national broadcaster said that negotiations regarding his Radio One show have been paused due to the payments scandal.
His most recent contract with RTÉ began in July 2020 and was due to end in March 2025.
"Ryan Tubridy stood down from the Late Late Show in May. RTÉ has written to his agent that the contract including all arrangements therein has come to an end," the statement said.
"Negotiations had commenced regarding his radio responsibilities. Those negotiations have been paused as with all negotiations as per the Board statement.”
The former
Late Late Show host has not been on the air this week as the situation with his pay continues to unfold.
Speaking in a statement on Friday, Ryan said he was "disappointed" in the decision to put his show on hold.
“I look forward to returning to the radio show, a job I love, as soon as possible and I hope my listeners and my colleagues appreciate my sincerity on this,” he said.
On Monday, RTÉ's Director General Dee Forbes resigned from her role with immediate effect over the controversy.
In a statement, she said: "As Director General, I am the person ultimately accountable for what happens within the organisation. I'm tendering my resignation to RTÉ with immediate effect."
"I understand from media reports and RTÉ’s statement that the Board has raised questions concerning payments to Ryan Tubridy between 2017-2019. I have no knowledge of those payments.
"The Board has not raised those questions with me," she stressed.
Her resignation comes just days after she was suspended following the Ryan Tubridy payment scandal. Last week, it was revealed that the broadcaster was paid €345,000 more than declared over a six-year period.
