Ryanair cabin crew to go on strike along with pilots unless demands are met

Ryanair cabin crew have threatened to strike in solidarity with pilots.

Pilots directly employed by Ryanair, who are members of the Irish Airline Pilots’ Association (IALPA), served notice of industrial action earlier this week. The union announced on Tuesday that 99 per cent of their members had backed the industrial action in a ballot - and warned that there could be further action. It also confirmed that the 24 hour work stoppage would begin on Thursday, July 12, at 1am.  Now cabin crew have said that they will go on strike along with pilots if their demands are not met. Last night, they put forward a list of demands on pay, annual leave and pensions, which they submitted to management.

However, Ryanair has branded the list of demands as "pointless". Union official Oliver Richardson said: "We are a federation. We don't call strike action... strike action is called by our affiliates. "As a federation, would we support as best as we could those affiliates in taking that action? Of course we would." The airline has stated that it is already began talks with unions to negotiate the issues raised.
