Saoirse Ruane’s mum has shared an update after her daughter underwent surgery to remove a tumour in her lung.
The mum confirmed the surgery went ahead as planned at Crumlin Children’s Hospital.
Her mother Roseanne said Saoirse is comfortable and recovering.
“Good morning everyone. Just a quick update to let you all know that Saoírse’s surgery went as planned.”
“She is comfortable and recovering in ICU with SLUSH by her side,” the mum shared.
“This is the first of many steps on this difficult journey!” she added.
Her parents said they feel “so happy and grateful” to be sitting beside their darling girl.
“We are so thankful to her surgeon and her amazing team here in Crumlin Hospital.”

They also thanked the public for their continued support.
Earlier this month, Saoirse’s parents revealed she had a tumour in her lung.
After her appearance on the Late Late Show, her family confirmed the cancer was in her lung.
Saoirse’s parents said the “tears rolled down their cheeks” when the doctors told them the news.
However, they stressed that they have faith in Saoirse’s team in Crumlin hospital.
“We leave them now to take care of our very special girl.”
“This to us is major surgery so we are very frightened. This to Saoirse is ultimately “the fight of her life”.”
Doctors told the parents that the tumour is in a “rare” position just like the one previously found in Saoirse’s tibia.
