Saved by the Bell's Dustin Diamond reportedly hospitalised "with cancer scare"

"He was taken to the hospital, where docs are running a number of tests to figure out what exactly is wrong with him."

Dustin Diamond, better known as Screech Powers from Saved by The Bell, has been hospitalised in Florida.

TMZ is reporting that cancer is "the likely prognosis." Dustin's team told TMZ:  "He was hospitalised in Florida this past weekend after feeling pain all over his body and a general sense of unease.

"We're told he was taken to the hospital, where docs are running a number of tests to figure out what exactly is wrong with him."

The source told the publication that they are "concerned it's cancer, and they're conducting a biopsy to get answers. We're told Dustin's family has a history of cancer -- his mother died of breast cancer -- but it's unclear what kind of cancer they suspect in his case."

Dustin is most famous for playing Screech in Saved By The Bell but he wasn't part of the cast in Peacock's recent revival of the NBC sitcom. Most of the other stars were involved so it was surprising that Dustin didn't make an appearance.

Former costar Lark Voorhies, also known as Lisa Turtle, gave her take on his absence while promoting her surprise return to Bayside High in the streaming series.

While speaking with Toronto's KiSS 92.5 FM she said: "Dustin Diamond, the almighty dollar rules on that. He wants to be paid and respected.

"We would love for him to come back on set. He's going through his growing pains… He's going through his adult issues and all of that but I am sure he'll be back — granted they have the perfect contract for him. I'm sure he would be back."

We're yet to hear if the show will be back for another series on NBCUniversal's streaming service. but Diamond's team has hinted that Screech might be back if there is another season, "They've been talking, so we're keeping our fingers crossed," they said.
