Earlier this it was revealed that Scarlett Johansson has filed for divorce from her husband of two years, Romain Dauriac.

The actress apparently served her estranged husband divorce papers through their lawyers, and rumours would have it that Johansson was seeking sole custody of the couple’s three-year-old daughter, Rose Dorothy.

However, Dauriac’s layer has now revealed that his client will also seek sole custody of the child, and is planning to raise her in his native France.

According to a statement from his lawyer, Dauriac will take the matter before a judge, and explain why he wants to move back to his home country with his daughter.

“He [Romain] believes that her schedule makes it impossible for her [Scarlett] to have physical custody – unless she intends to have her children raised by nannies and helper,” Dauriac’s legal representative, Harold Mayerson, said in a fresh statement.

Scarlett, on the other hand, has remained silent about the marital breakdown but did release one statement to People magazine asking the media to respect her and her daughter’s privacy at this time.

“As a devoted mother and private person and with complete awareness that my daughter will one day be old enough to read the news about herself, I would only like to say that I will never, ever be commenting on the dissolution of my marriage,” Scarlett said in the statement.

“Out of respect for my desires as a parent and out of respect for all working moms, it is with kindness that I ask other parties involved and the media to do the same. Thank you.”
