He’s now favourite to take on the role permanently.

This Morning viewers are calling for Irish presenter, Craig Doyle to permanently replace Phillip Schofield as host of the show.

Doyle joined Holly Willoughby on Wednesday and Thursday as co-host while ITV bosses work to find a permanent replacement for Schofield.

With Josie Gibson taking the reins on Monday and Tuesday, it appears that bosses are now keen to give the Dubliner a chance at hosting.

However, after just two days co-hosting on the morning show, Craig is now favourite to take on the role permanently.

Many are saying him and Holly have “clear chemistry” on screen.

Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary are to continue their regular presenting slot on Friday.

Craig Doyle is currently the main anchor on BT Sport Premiership, European Champions Cup rugby coverage and MotoGP motorcycle racing.

The 52-year-old enjoyed a very lucrative career so far working across the BBC, RTE, ITV and BT Sports for a number of years.

“We will draw on the This Morning family for presenters to co-present with Holly”

After graduating from St Patrick’s College in Maynooth with a Degree in Sociology and History, Craig moved to London to complete a Diploma in Broadcast Journalism.

He started out his career in his local radio station, BBC Radio Suffolk before venturing to ITV where he hosted a children’s show called Disney Club.

In the years that followed, Doyle built an impressive on-air portfolio, presenting across the BBC and BBC Sport.

When he returned to Ireland in the early 2000’s, he created his own production company called Boxer and produced a number of successful shows for the RTE.

He went on to produce and present The Craig Doyle Show, an Irish travel and celebrity programme that did very well on the national station.

Fast forward to 2021, Craig landed his first stint on the famous ITV This Morning couch, where fans want him to stay.

In a statement to The Journal, a spokesperson for ITV said it would make further announcements on future presenters of the show “in due course”.

He said: “In the meantime, we will draw on the This Morning family for presenters to co-present with Holly”.
