Covid: Dr. Tony Holohan urges the public to follow Covid measures as cases continue to rise

Dr. Tony Holohan has expressed his concerns about the increasing Covid-19 cases in Ireland.

Speaking at yesterday’s NPHET conference, the CMO urged people to go back to basics and follow the Covid measures.

He stressed that the level of infection in the community is a major concern.

Dr. Holohan commented, “The volume of disease in the community is really very high and represents a significant risk to those who are most vulnerable in our society.”

He said the best thing we can do is to continue to use the tools available to protect both ourselves and those most vulnerable.

“By layering all of the public health measures with which we are now so familiar, we can help to break the chains of transmission.

“Ensure that you are washing your hands regularly, wearing a mask on public transport and in other social settings, try to meet others outdoors, and ensure that indoor spaces are well-ventilated,” he added.

Anyone with Covid-19 symptoms must isolate and get tested.
