Apparently there was a secret meaning behind the outfit that the Queen wore during her Christmas speech

Interesting!

On Christmas Day, the Queen made her annual speech, addressing her subjects.

It was a speech that shone a light on a tough year for the royal family, and Britain in general.

And apparently, there was even a hidden meaning behind the monarch’s choice of ensemble.

The lovely Queen wore a royal blue dress, and accessorised it with a sapphire brooch.

She looked gorgeous, and very regal.

However, certain academics have said that her outfit was a “pro European Union” statement.

Given that her choice of colour is also the colour of the European Union flag.

This, despite the fact the Queen has to stay publicly neutral on politics, is an interesting theory.

The brooch was set with 12 diamonds and has been likened to the EU flag’s circle of stars.

Hmmm…

Dr James Anderson, an academic at the University of Reading, took to Twitter to say the Queen has expressed her “personal views” during the speech.

He said:

“The Queen has full editorial control of the Queen’s Speech and can choose whether or not to give one. She chose not to in 1969.”

“So treat the speech as her personal views, right down to her choice of an EU blue dress and an EU stars broach.”

Meanwhile, aeronautical engineer Dr Geoff Jones wrote: “Her Majesty yet again doing what little she can to show her support for the European Union.”

Interesting, right?
