Doctors and pharmacists are warning that the organism mutates and become resistant to the chemicals used to treat the problem. Parents who have been using shampoos on their children as a precaution only work if the children have already got head lice. It is advised to first inspect your child's hair with a comb.
According the Independent, the Irish Pharmacy Union (IPU) has stated that one in ten children has head lice, with most of the infestations occurring in children aged between four and 16 years. The IPU reported that in more than 25 US states the little pest has become resistant to shop-bought treatments due to their overuse.
