Sex and the City author reveals why Carrie REALLY ended up with Mr. Big

It's all down to her mum.

Sex and the City author Candice Bushnell has revealed the real reason that Carrie always had to end up with Mr. Big.

Carrie Bradshaw had an on-and-off relationship with furniture maker Aidan, played by John Corbett, while she always carried a torch for Mr. Big.

The tycoon, played by Chris Noth, eventually wooed the newspaper columnist after traveling to Paris to win her back.

The two of them went on to marry in the first Sex and the City film.

But while fans were swooning over Carrie’s ex Aidan, it turns out the bestselling author’s mum wasn’t a fan.

She told Us Weekly:

“My mother always hated Aidan, for some reason, so I could never really be team Aidan.

“Whenever I would go home and visit my parents, my mother would say, ‘Why is Carrie with Aidan and not Mr. Big? You’ve got to get rid of Aidan.’”

And when it came time to decide who Carrie ended up with in the book that inspired the series, the author said she felt “obligated” to take her mum’s side.

She added:

“”My mother never felt that Aidan was the right person for Carrie.

“So I felt obligated to take her side.”

The 58 year old went on to explain that while she’s got high hopes for a third Sex and the City film, it is unlikely it will happen.

She continued:

“I always wish that it would.

“I don’t know if it will ever happen, probably not.”
