Public asked to help girl find teddy with recording of her late mum’s heartbeat

A public appeal has been issued after a little girl lost a sentimental teddy.

The girl’s bear had a recording of her late mother’s heartbeat in it. The audio was recorded just a year before the little girl’s mum died.

Her father accidentally donated the bear to a charity shop. He didn’t realise what he had done until his little girl was looking for the bear before school.

The dad rushed back to the store to try to get the bear back, but it was already sold.

Goodwill Knoxville urged the public to help them reunite the little girl with her teddy bear.

They wrote on Instagram, “Please help our local donor. They accidentally donated a bear that was very sentimental to them.

“It was sold in our store before they realized it,” they added.

The store asked anyone with information to contact them immediately.

“We would love to see them reunited,” they said.

A spokesperson for the store told Today, “When the father came back and saw that it was sold, his heart sank.”

The father couldn’t believe what he had done and is desperate to find the bear.

Build-A-Bear heard about the mishap and has offered to help.

They promised to replace the bear. The family will also provide the recording of the heartbeat, but hope they can find the original beforehand.

“This new teddy bear will provide a bit of comfort for the child and the family at this time,” a Build-A-Bear representative said.
