Gardaí have launched an investigation after a teenage girl was raped in Tralee.

According to reports, the alleged incident occurred in Tralee Town Park on Wednesday, August 24th.

The victim was walking home after the Rose of Tralee festival when someone attacked her in the early hours of the morning.

The attack happened in a wooded area of the park, according to reports.

Gardaí told The Irish Mirror that an investigation is now underway.

However, no arrests have been made at this time.

“Gardai are investigating an alleged assault that is reported to have occurred on Wednesday in Tralee Town Park, Tralee. Investigations are ongoing into this matter.”

Gardaí fear the young girl was targeted because she was walking home alone, but they’re following all lines of inquiry.
