Rachel Bland was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016.
The BBC presenter discovered her illness was terminal earlier this year so decided to write a touching memoir of her life for her two year old son, Freddie.
The mother understands her little boy is too young to know what’s going on in her life. She wants him to have something to remember her by when he grows up.
The forty year old has titled her memoir For Fred and is currently on the lookout for someone to publish it. She took to Twitter earlier this month to see if there were any takers.
I’ve started my ‘memoir’ for Freddie so he can know me/my take on all the imp moments in my life. Anyone want to publish it so I don’t have to worry about him being short of a copy?#ForFred#AdviceThatLastsALifetime#LeavingAPieceofMeBehind#PublisherAndAgentRequired#Stage4 pic.twitter.com/3FbmczcDNP

In her memoir, Rachel talks about advice. Advice that she wants to give her son on being happy and building a career.
Speaking to The Times, she said:
“I’m writing it for him as an adult, to come back to through his life.”
“He’s not really at an age where he’s going to remember very much about me.”
“I just wanted to get everything down in my words so he gets a sense of who I am, my sense of humour.”
Rachel worked at the BBC for fifteen years. She married former BBC journalist Steve Bland in 2013.
