Tesco transform Temple Street Children’s Hospital into a Winter Wonderland

A wonderful treat for the children.

While most children will be excitedly putting up their Christmas decorations and counting down the days until Christmas Eve, for others Christmas will be spent a little further from home.

Many children will spend the holidays in hospitals like Temple Street but that doesn’t mean the that Christmas should be any less magical for them.

This week Tesco Ireland transformed Temple Street Children’s Hospital into a winter wonderland and it’s absolutely beautiful.

Colleagues and patients of Temple Street Children’s Hospital welcomed volunteers from Tesco Ireland, who dedicated two days of their time to deliver and decorate multiple Christmas trees, hang an array of beautiful decorations and spread a sleigh-full of festive cheer throughout the hospital.

This year, some new decorations were donated to the hospital by Tesco Ireland, helping to provide much needed festive spirit in the countdown to Christmas and for those children who may not spend it at home this year.

To coincide with transforming Temple Street Children’s Hospital for the festive period, Tesco Ireland is hosting a series of ‘Festive Fun Days’ throughout stores nationwide this Friday December 6 and Saturday December 7 in order to raise €150,000 for the little heroes of Temple Street.

Speaking about their latest collaboration with Tesco Emma Barrett, Head of Corporate Development, Temple Street Foundation said:

“Spending time in hospital can be a difficult and worrying time for children and their families and even more so at Christmas when most of us look forward to being at home with our loved ones. We have been overwhelmed by the tremendous support we received from Tesco Ireland. Once again, we thank Tesco Ireland for demonstrating such kindness and generosity of spirit that has given the hospital an uplift as we enter the Christmas season.”

Having spent a lot of time in and out of hospital as a child, I think this is a really wonderful idea and the video honestly had me close to tears.

I think all the decorations are also lovely for the staff who sacrifice spending time at home with their families to give vital care to the little patients at Temple Street.

Tesco customers and colleagues will also be able to support the little heroes of Temple Street by purchasing limited edition festive floral bouquets, available in stores nationwide priced at €10.00, with a donation of €1.00 from every bouquet sold going directly to Temple Street.
