Grab the brolly: Here’s what Met Éireann is forecasting for the long weekend

We're in for a damp one.

Anna O'Rourke

You can’t beat a long weekend – but we’d really love if we got some decent weather to go along with it.

Unfortunately it looks like a pretty mixed bag for the next couple of days.

The good news is that temperatures will stay relatively high but the bad news is that it looks like we’ll get plenty of rain too.

Met Éireann has said that today will be mild, humid and mostly cloudy. It predicts rain in west Munster, Connacht, Ulster and north Leinster and that it will be mainly dry further south.

Rain is due to move eastwards later in the day. Highest temperatures of 15 to 21 degrees.

Tonight is set to be mainly dry with some drizzle overnight.

Tomorrow, Saturday, will start off dry though rain will spread through much of Leinster and Munster. Rain will develop in the west over the afternoon, with highest temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees.

Saturday night is expected to be wet throughout.

Sunday morning and afternoon will see a mix of sunshine and showers. Some of the showers will be heavy.

It will be less humid with highest temperatures of around 14 to 18 degrees and we can expect fresh gusty winds.

Monday is predicted to be cool with sunshine and showers, some of these heavy and possibly thundery during the afternoons. Highest temperatures of around 12 to 16 degrees.
