Have you heard that urban legend that an American tourist thought that the word ‘Penneys’ was ‘Thank You’ in Irish?
As in;
– Wow your dress is amazing!
– Penneys
– I love your top
– Penneys
Etc etc.. Until Penneys became the Mecca that we love today, that response used to be used apologetically, as in ‘Oh god you must be joking, I hardly spent any money on it even’.
You know, in that way that women DO.
Thankfully we seem to be growing out of that bad habit, of not taking a compliment as intended, of saying a simple ‘thank you’ instead of making excuses for ourselves.
And so we bloody well should because really, we are amazing and we deserve lots of compliments!
UK comedian Luisa Omielan agrees. She may very well be my new favourite funny lady and as her YouTube clip below shows, she too thinks us ladies need to big up ourselves a little bit more.
