The new mum decided to call her child English.
"At the hospital, we find out she had a baby boy. As she's cradling him, she says: 'You guys, this is English.'
"I couldn't help it at that moment. It was like a reflex. I laughed. She looked up at me and I knew she was serious."
The new mum was obviously hurt by her friend's reaction, but she said she couldn't help it.
"I tried to make small talk about the labour and whatnot, but I couldn't wait to get out of there," she said.
The friend explained she didn't mean to hurt or offend her, but couldn't help her reaction. The name is pretty out there to be fair to her.
"Right after we left, my friend told me I was a jerk and should have apologised. I do feel bad, but I don't think I was being a jerk. At least that certainly wasn't my intention."
What do you think of the name? Would you have reacted the same way?Explore more on these topics:
