Mum called out for wanting to change her son’s birthday to ‘more convenient date’

Would you change your child’s birthday?

A mum has sparked quite a heated debate after admitting she wants to change her son’s birthday. She explained that she wants to give her son a ‘fake birthday’ because he was born in December.

Her boy wasn’t born on Christmas Day but his birthday is close to the holiday.

She feels like it isn’t fair because he has to wait longer to get his presents compared to his siblings.

The mum told Mumsnet:

“So DS2 was born in December and I just feel like it’s so hard for him to wait an entire year between presents, and then of course to get birthday and Christmas so close together, especially because his sibling gets presents conveniently around halfway through the year.”

She suggested having a fake birthday in June for her son, but people felt like it was a bad idea.

One said, “I have two December babies. Not sure why you need a solution to something that’s not a problem.”

Another added, “Unless their birthday is literally Christmas Day I think you’re being a little ridiculous, sorry.”

Another shared, “I have an autumn child and quite often give her an “early present” in say June if it’s something she’d use a lot in summer.”

“I was born in December. My life is no worse off for having to wait a whole year for presents,” another pointed out.

What would you do if this was your child?
